No. My column about all things just plan wrong.

No. #1:  Taco Bell's New Beefy Nacho Burrito.  Nachos wrapped up and ready to go.

Gosh, um. Where do I start? There are so many things wrong with the Beefy Nacho Burrito. But, I'll keep it short and to the point. First, we shouldn't really be eating nachos. Ever. They're the reason entire towns in Texas are sporting spare tires. We also shouldn't be eating nachos on the go. Ever.

Next, the cheese sauce. Really? Taco Bell, you go to all the trouble to mass produce Mexican food - a diet based on beans, meats, corn, produce, and cheese - and you leave out the cheese? Really? Cheese sauce? It's almost insulting. Yes, I noticed your delicacies are filled with snack-stand cheese sauce. Just, yuck. Taco Bell you've apparently chosen to fill the 'most engineered and disgusting food' niche. I'm sad there is even a demand for it. But then again, we are a pro-wrestling watchin' nation. To be clear, there are several nasty, inexplicable doosies on the menu. The Beefy Nacho Burrito isn't alone. I'd also like to "No" the Dorritos Locos Taco and the Volcano Taco.  Is this company run by 11 year olds? The former is just gross, the latter has more red dye #40 than any human needs. In an entire lifetime.

McCormick Grill Mates Grill Ambassadors Hosted Party by Crowdtap

How much do I love summer? Beyond the bathing suits and sunsets, there's the food. BBQs to be specific. Grilled meats and vegetables, cold drinks and sides. Friends and family. It makes for the best of times! So I was thrilled to be chosen to host a McCormick Grill Mates Grill Ambassadors Party as a member of Crowdtap.com. The party was a great idea to get the word out about new and tasty McCormick's Gill Mates marinades, rubs, sauces, and spices.  I supplied the sides and people. McCormick and Crowdtap provides the flavor.

My kit included: a Gill Mates Brown Sugar Bourbon BBQ Source, Grill mates Spiced Brandy & Herb Marinade, Grill Mates Slow & Low Memphis Pit BBQ Rub, Grill Mates Molasses Bacon Seasoning, Grill Mates Montreal Steak Seasoning.  Each designed to taking grilling to the next level!

I invited my friends and family over on a sunny Saturday to give the fresh new flavors a go. We were blessed with glorious weather - perfect for a day of grilling. Knowing my friends and family, I decided to do a bit of many things.  I wanted to try each of the seasonings! I decided to pair the Memphis Pit BBQ Rub with a three pound tri tip. I also decided to drizzle a little Brown Sugar Bourbon Sauce on my tri tip for good measure. I thought the Molasses Bacon Seasoning and the Montreal Steak Seasoning would go well on New York Steaks and hamburgers. Lastly, I thought Spiced Brandy and Herb would taste divine on whole chicken breasts.

The night before my party, I trimmed my tri tip roast and used the Memphis Pit BBQ Rub.  There was an ample amount in the 1.25 oz. packet, more than enough for more than 3 pounds of meat. Once coverage was complete, I wrapped the roast in saran wrap and tucked it away into the fridge.  The morning of, I hung festive decorations and made sure the drinks were on ice. I also prepared the Spiced Brandy and Herb Marinade. I found the recipe easy and decided to explore the Southern Peach option by adding peach preserves.  Once mixed, I halved the recipe and placed one half in a gallon size ziplock bag containing a pound of chicken breasts.  I sprinkled the New York steaks and hamburgers with the Montreal and the Molasses Bacon Seasoning. I placed all of the meats back into the fridge.

Memphis Pit BBQ Rub and Brown Sugar Bourbon Sauce - This rub was amazing. Even though the recipe called for ribs, we love BBQ tri tip. A restaurant called Lucille's has a delicious BBQ Tri Tip and we order it every chance we get. Why not give it a try? We found texture to be rich and authentic. The seasonings were spot on Memphis BBQ. A zesty blend of onion, garlic, cinnamon and thyme.  Sweetened with Brown sugar, chili pepper provides a kick.  The layered rub also includes paprika, which gives it a deep orange hue. After grilling the tri tip on medium low for about 20 minutes, I applied a hearty layer of the Brown Sugar Bourbon Sauce.  I wanted the roast to be crisp and sweet on the edges. After letting it rest, we cut it open. It was perfect. Juicy and tender. Flavorful and savory.  The BBQ Flavor was undeniable. You'd have thought I'd simmered a sauce from scratch.  My guests loved it! "Absolutely delicious!" "This is SO good!" "Amazing tri tip!" were some of the things my guests reported. I told them about how easy the rub was to use and showed them information about the product omy iPad. They were also able to scan the packaging and find both the product and additional information on Amazon.com. Cool, right? The also loved the crisp and candied Brown Sugar Sauce edges.  I caught several people sneaking cuts of the edges. We may never have to go back to Lucille's again!

Molasses Bacon & Montreal Steak Seasonings -  The New York steaks and hamburgers sprinkled with seasonings turned out fantastically, as well.  Done medium-well, they too were juicy and tender. Even the drippings were tasty! My kids gobbled up their burgers seasoned with the Montreal Steak Seasoning. I served them with jack cheese and baby greens.  My daughter said, "They taste homemade, but better than usual." Uh, thanks I think? Those who opted for a steak, found the Molasses Bacon run gave the meat a rich, sweet and smoking flavor. My guests really appreciated the  secondary taste of bacon. A "Nice surprise!" was what one guests said. "The bacon taste is so real!" was what my friend said when I showed her the bottle.  Like the rub and sauce, my guests were able to look up additional information online using their phones or my iPad. Most used their phones right there at the table to research and post pics to Facebook! I think they were most impressed by how 'real' and 'authentic' the seasonings were - like I'd spend all day slaving away in the kitchen. Literally, in a dash I was done.

Spiced Brandy & Herb Marinade - The fragrant marinade was easy to prepare and provided more than enough for 2 lbs. of meat. After marinading the breasts for an hour or so, I grilled them with fresh vegetables. The flavor of the marinade was delicious and multidimensional.  We loved the authentic herb seasonings and the body the brand brought to the party. Deep and rich, this marinade allowed the chicken to grill slowly and evenly. Once done, the breasts were juicy and flavorful.  One guest commented that it tasted homemade. I agree, I think what I've really enjoyed out of each of the products was that they tasted like a tried and true family recipe.  All of the flavor, a fraction of the work. Brilliant!

I served my meat courses with with pasta alfredo, green beans and a cranberry salad.  Watermelon for dessert (We very, very full!). We paired the meats with red wine and IPAs for the adults.  A perfect summer day. Satiated, content and surrounded by friends and family.  I'm so happy to have had the chance to do this and to share the experience with my friends and family. I love to serve them great food and McCormick's made it so easy!. My friends and I discovered five new flavors for the meats we eat everyday. That's exciting! McCormick's Grill Mates are a great way to bring take any cut of meat in a savory, sweet and well-seasoned direction! My friends and family fell in love - I hope you do to! Find them in your grocer's spice aisle. Thanks Crowdtap & McCormick's - BBQ meals done easy and right!

Up Next from Crowdtap: Madagascar 3 Circus Circle's Most Wanted Party

Hey Zoosters! To spread the word about Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted and to get the kids excited about the third installment of one of their favorite movie franchises, we got to throw a Mad Party courtesy of Crowdtap, Dreamworks Animation and me! Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted follows our favorite foursome and their lemur and penguin pals as they try to get home to New York via Europe. In order to elude the persistent Captain DuBois (who wants Alex's head for her wall!), their journey takes them to Monte Carlo, Rome, London and New York as they join forces with a local travelling circus. My kids are already excited about the film and will love the new additions to the franchise, including Ava and Stefon.  In order to celebrate the flare of the movie and to get the kids excited, my little circus had a MaD CirCuS AmEriCaNo party of their own!

Decorating!

Blow up the balloons, throw the confetti! My kids had a great time getting ready for the party. They cut out the graphics included in our digital party pack and hung balloons and streamers. Big Top themed and full of color, the house was transformed into a big top extravaganza! Once the mood was set, we got the kids set up with games and activities.

Gaming!

My kids loved the masks of Marty, Melman, Gloria and Alex. One of Stefon and Captain DuBois would have been awesome! They played Tic Tac Toe, connect the dots and completed the mazes. My little ones loved being blindfolded and trying to pin the tail on Gloria!

Polka Dot Afro!

Instead of face paints, which I couldn't find, I decided to have the kids cover themselves in polka dot stickers like Marty from the movie! Did you know kids love to do that? Once they were done, we took turns donning the circus afro and showing off our best Marty Moves!

Zebra Cupcake Making!

I was too shorthanded to tackle the Zebra Cake! Instead, I created Zebra cupcakes with black and white frosting.  I added colorful rainbow sprinkles and dots for some circus flare.  We also made popcorn, chocolate chip cookies with sprinkles, red hot circus sugar cookies, candies and apples (for good measure)!

"Move It" Dance Off Video!

Once the kids were chalked full of Zebra Cake, it was time to put the sugar to work. Playing our favorite songs from the film, Circus Afro and Firework, we had an awesome dance off! With the music playing, each of the kids tried their best to dance like Marty from the movie. We had nothing but winners as far as I'm concerned.

Check out their moves in this video montage!

To (big) top it off, I bought the entire family tickets to Circu Vargas in June (Shh! They don't know yet!) We had a great time and are looking forward to seeing the high flying film on June 8, 2012! Thank you  Dreamworks Animation and Crowdtap!  We had a Circus Americano Ball!
